Freemasonry in Winchester

Winchester has been home to Freemasons for generations. Lodges meet at the Winchester Masonic Centre (Chilcomb Down House), 124 Alresford Road — a purpose-built centre just outside the city.

Old Symondian Lodge is one of those lodges: consecrated in 1938, part of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Hampshire and Isle of Wight, and a member of the Federation of School Lodges. We meet on the second Monday of each month.

If you searched for Winchester Freemasons because you’re curious about joining — or you’re already a Brother looking for a warm lodge to visit — you’re in the right place.

How joining works

What Winchester Freemasons do

Meetings combine ceremony with meaning, a meal together, and looking after one another. Freemasonry here is about integrity, kindness, honesty and fairness — not secrecy for its own sake.
